Peyronie’s Disease

Peyronie’s disease is a disorder of the connective tissues. The soft tissues of the penis are the ones that are affected by this particular disease. This disease affects quite a number of men although statistics indicate that the percentage of men affected by this particular disorder at any given time does not exceed 5%. This disorder which is commonly known as penile induration affects the tissues around the penile. Normally, presence of this particular disease is majorly characterized by an abnormal curvature by the penis.

Symptoms

As already mentioned earlier the penis is normally curved to a small extent. This is however not normal to all men but only to some who are born with a condition commonly referred to as benign which is a curvature of the congenital that makes the penis point to other directions other that point straight. However presence of the Peyronie’s disorder increases the curvature of the penis abnormally. Some of the symptoms of this particular disorder include pain on the lower part of the penis. In addition, the penis hardens abnormally and the abnormal curving of the penis is especially noticeable during erection.

In extreme cases, the penis may become narrower than normal or even become abnormally shorter. These are usually the major symptoms of this particular disorder. It is worth to mention that the pain experienced at the early stages of the disorder may last for as long as one to one and a half years.
